The days may be getting shorter and the air colder, but it’s no time to hibernate! December in particular is chock-a-block full of things to do all month long. Many activities and events have a holiday theme, but there are lots of winter-focused opportunities as well. Some of these activities, like ice skating in Millennium and Maggie Daley parks, continue into January and February.
After the holiday season ends, major events in and near the South Loop include the Chicago Boat, RV, and Strictly Sail Show and Restaurant Week in January, and the Chicago Auto Show and Theatre Week in February. And don’t forget that the Chicago Park District offers a wide range of new programs for their winter session, so there’s plenty to keep you occupied.
