Summertime, and the living is easy… And if we had our way that living would be done outdoors as much as possible!
Major events in and near the South Loop during June, July and August include the Printers Row Lit Fest, the Blues and Gospel Festivals, The Taste of Chicago, and Lollapalooza, as well as events like the Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy and the Chicago Dancing Festival.
Summer is also bursting with recurring activities and events like SummerDance, Jazzin’ at the Shedd, movies in the parks and other park events, as well as local farmers markets and camps and other park programs. And of course we should all take advantage of the nice weather by engaging in outdoor activities, including spending time in nearby parks and open spaces, exercising outdoors, enjoying the lake and the river, listening to live outdoor music, and participating in one or more serious running events, Charity Walks/Runs and Fun Runs!
