Chicagoans earn their nice weather by suffering through some often-nasty winters. 🙂 Although die-hards don’t let cold and snow stop them from spending time outdoors, most people tend to hibernate in January and February. Then, once spring hits, they start thinking about how they can spend as much time as possible outdoors through spring and summer and into the fall.
From June through September (primarily), there are lots of al fresco options in/near the South Loop, like festivals and art shows and food fairs. We’ve identified the main annual events and activities on our seasonally-focused Things to Do pages, and we share as many options as we can via Facebook, and Twitter, but for outdoor activities in particular we wanted to take things a step further.
To help folks plan to maximize their time outdoors, we’ve created a series of resources identifying and providing links to a variety of outdoor activities, in addition to our Parks and Open Spaces page. Click or tap on the links below to learn more about these wide-ranging options. If we have missed any outdoor activities in or near the South Loop that you think should be included on this page, please contact us.
