The South Loop offers residents and visitors over twenty parks and open spaces to enjoy and experience – and being right on Lake Michigan provides easy access to even more! To help people find and take advantage of these spaces, we have created a Parks and Open Spaces resource page, as well as a page that provides access to Park Programs in/near the South Loop.
The main Chicago Parks are active for much of the year, and they really come to life during the warmer months. Grant Park becomes “festival central,” hosting gospel, blues, rock, jazz and other multi-day music events, as well as festivals focused on food and drink and the beloved SummerDance. Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park offers entertainment nearly every evening, including movies and both contemporary and classical music. You can find all the major and recurring events in the Things to Do in/near the South Loop during the Summer section of our website.
